Right now Vermonters have an important chance to help improve 2016 Vermont Health Connect plans. The Department of Vermont Health Access has proposed increasing the out of pocket expenditure for a number of the most popular plans on Vermont Health Connect. Though many of these increases are required to keep Vermont Health Connect in line with federal law, there are some parts of the proposal that we think could have really negative impacts on Vermonters, and you have a chance to do something about it.

Possibly the most troubling recommendation in the proposal was to change coverage of non-preferred generic drugs from a copay to coinsurance. The long and the short of it is that if you take expensive prescription drugs that don’t have a generic option, you could be asked to pay $1,250 when you go to fill your prescription next January.
Another proposal which could be very problematic for many Vermonters is a increase in the copay for primary care, substance abuse and mental health office visits on a number of plans. Increasing these copays could have a negative impact on our health system if we make it harder for people to get these essential services. Please take a minute and submit your comment to the Board to help improve the 2016 Vermont Health Connect Plans. Together we can make a difference!
